CrossFit Teens is a fitness program for all teens that simultaneously seeks to improve fitness and character traits directly related to success. Below is description of the Teens program; for current program details click here.
THE ATHLETIC OBJECTIVE: Allow teens to move functionally, improve their fitness, and develop an appreciation for lifelong health and wellness.
THE DEVELOPMENT OBJECTIVES: Value hard work; be nice to people; have fun. CrossFit provides a unique opportunity for kids to work hard and see positive results. Seeing the results of hard work pay off builds an appreciation for hard work, which will prove highly valuable in the development of character traits related to success. Research about how teens succeed academically and in life shows that they need the ability to work towards short, intermediate, and long term goals – CrossFit allows teens to do just that. The development of perseverance, even in the face of overwhelming difficulty or failure, is another important character trait well matched to CrossFit. Also see CrossFit SAT Prep and Academics.
THE FITNESS PRINCIPLES: Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Healthy living requires us to push, pull, run, throw, climb, lift, and jump effectively and safely regardless of whether or not we play sports. Sports are specialized pursuits. Our goal is to support the specialist by training as generalists.
The CrossFit Teens program is appropriate for all teenagers or all athletic interests and athletic goals (from healthy living to elite performance). The programs are designed for universal scalability – we can make any workout appropriate and challenging for every teen.
