I'm visiting from out of town, how do I drop-in?

We love visitors!

The drop-in fee is $20/class or you can purchase a sweet Roots t-shirt. We limit drop-ins to individuals who have 3+ months experience at a CrossFit affiliate. Planning to be in town for more than one day? We also offer a weekly drop-in rate. Email for details.

To schedule a drop-in check out our class schedule here to find the day and time you would like to drop-in. Email Front Desk to reserve a spot in the class you would like to attend.  Alternatively, you can call us at 303.578.8455.

Do I need to get into shape before I start CrossFit?

We get that question all the time and answer is NO! Remember that the workouts are scaled to your current fitness level. We will take care of progressing you through more challenging options as you get fitter. As we like to say, the best way to start, is to start!

Do you have showers?

Yes, we have two showers. Please bring your own towel and toiletries.


How do I know which barbell, kettlebell, wallball, box, is which?

There are three types of barbells – 15-lb., 35-lb. (15kg), 45-lb. (20kg). 15-lb. bars are light colored aluminum and are the shortest. 35-lb. barbells are shorter than 45-lb. barbells by about 8 inches and have a slightly narrower grip diameter. Some of the barbells we have are labeled on the end with their weight in kilos.

The kettlebells are all labeled on the side with their weight. We have 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, and 32kg kettebells.

The wallballs are all labeled with their weight, in pounds, by the laces of the ball.

The square boxes are spray painted with their height – either 8 or 12 inches. The large Rogue boxes are built to accommodate three heights – 20, 24, and 30 inches – depending on how they are turned.

Where is the First Aide station, tape, and band aides?

It is all located on the white wire shelf hung behind the leather seating area and next to the first shower.


Can I do my own extra workout after class?

No, however, this is permitted during Open Shop hours. Check the schedule to view Open Shop times.

What happens if I'm late to class?

We ask that you jump in and assimilate into class by doing what everyone else is. We don’t do penalty burpees but ask that everyone makes their best effort to be on time. If you will be more than 10 minutes late, we ask you to come to the next class.

What's the 400 m run route?

From the middle of the shop, out the front door, west through the parking lot, right on the sidewalk at 28th Street, down the back alley on the backside of our building, in the back door.

How many people are in a class? Do I have to sign up?

We cap all classes at 12 people, except for on weekends. Yes, you have to sign-up.


What shoes should I wear?

Bottom line is that you don’t need a fancy shoe to do CrossFit. A flat shoe is best as it works for great for movements in the gym. Companies like Reebok, Innov-8, and Nike make CrossFit-specific shoes which many of our members like. On the flip side, a pair of Converse Chuck Tailors will work great too!

What is the app everyone uses to track their workouts?

It’s called SugarWOD. Go to this page on our website to learn how to download it, log workouts, and track your progress!

Is there somewhere I can look for demos of exercises/movements?

When do you post the workout?

The workout is posted at 6 pm the night before to our website and to the SugarWOD App (our workout logging application).

Look for the orange circle at the bottom righthand corner for the Workout of the Day (WODs).
