James began CrossFit as a teenager during his Sophomore year of high school in Ohio. He wanted to train to become a better tennis player, but soon became more interested in CrossFit than pursuing collegiate tennis.
His passion for CrossFit stems from its ability to change lives of adults and children. Starting CrossFit as a teenager he gained valuable lessons and skills that could not be gained in a traditional classroom. These lessons have carried through to college and adulthood helping to shape not only the athlete, but the person he is today.
James has worked with kids for years beginning as a mentor for younger students in high school, and more recently, serving on the executive team for Camp Kesem CU Boulder, serving over 150 children who have been affected by a parent’s cancer.
