May 2025 Newsletter

Dear Roots Crew,

Happy May! The weather is warming up, we’re flying the doors open now through October, and we’re gearing up for a kickass summer.

But first, I am excited to let you know that we will be transitioning to a new member management platform in June! That means we’ll be moving from ZenPlanner to PushPress.

I never make these decisions lightly, knowing that it means another change for all of you to adjust to. However, the benefits of this new system for members and coaches are worth the tradeoff of learning a new app.

So, please read below so you are IN THE KNOW about how to get the new app and (probably most importantly) so you can sign up for classes come May 25th! We will send a follow-up email in the next few weeks detailing all of the fun new features of this new platform.

Don’t miss out on all of the summer training details below, including the new Summer Travel WOD track in SugarWOD and programs for teens and college kids.

Stay consistent,
Nicole

Congrats Amy Jo!

We’re Changing Member Management Systems and Moving to Push Press – ACTION REQUIRED!

We are switching our member management platform from Zen Planner to PushPress™. Our goal is to manage the gym more efficiently and provide the best member experience on a daily basis.

ACTION NEEDED: Expect an email from the new system requesting you to set up and verify the existing information we have on file for you.

The subject line will be “Action Needed – CrossFit Roots Migration Request.”

This email will be sent on Tuesday, May 6th!

This transition will take place over the next few weeks and more information will be emailed about the upgrades soon. You’ll begin making reservations in the new app on Sunday, May 25th for classes starting Sunday June 1. We will remind you of this as we get closer!

Training for Summer

Summertime brings warm weather, gatherings with friends, and summer travel. We know these can impact your fitness, attendance, and your foundation, so we’re here to help!

Introducing: Summer Travel WODs!

For summer 2025, we’re thrilled to offer a Travel Workout track in SugarWOD – five travel workouts each week, specifically designed to keep you consistent, no matter where your adventures take you.

These Workouts Will:

  • Require minimal equipment (think hotel gym basics or your parents’ basement gear) or no equipment at all
  • Take just 40 minutes or less from warm-up to finish – making it easier to fit fitness into your vacation schedule
  • Be available exclusively to active members through SugarWOD from June 1st through August 31st

Why We’re Offering This:

  1. For your fitness: Staying consistent, even minimally, during travel makes returning to regular training significantly easier. Remember how challenging it was during the pandemic to rebuild habits? Even short workouts while away can maintain your progress.
  2. For your social connection: Log your travel workouts in SugarWOD to fistbump, comment, and encourage fellow Roots members even while you’re on the road. This keeps you connected to the community that motivates and inspires you, no matter where your summer adventures take you.
  3. Little Efforts Add Up: It’s common for athletes to think they are “failing” if their attendance decreases during the summer. However, it’s normal for athletes to have a few weeks in the summer when they only make it into the shop 2 times in a week, down from their normal 4-5. The travel workouts will allow you to get to the shop and supplement with a workout at home when needed. Coming to the shop 2-3x per week during the summer and hitting a travel workout or two is WAY better than not attending for a few months. These are the types of efforts that lead to long-term fitness!

Thank you for your continued membership support during the summer months, as this helps us maintain the vibrant community atmosphere and quality experience that make Roots special year-round! Thank you for supporting our small business, staying consistent, and logging your travel workouts. For members who stay active for June, July, and August, you’ll be entered to win three months of membership FREE for Fall 2025!

Memorial Day Murph & Memorial Day Schedule

Each year, CrossFit affiliates around the world do the Hero workout Murph in memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy who was killed in Afghanistan in June of 2005. CrossFit has had a long relationship with the military and has honored service members who have made the ultimate sacrifice through Hero workouts.

On Sunday, May 27 we will hold our annual Murph event.

Doors open at 7:15am for the National Anthem and kickoff. Heats will go at 8:00, 8:25, and 8:50am so come early to warm-up! Sign up in Zen Planner to reserve your spot.

We will have various beginner and scaled options for athletes. As always, just show up!

We’ll also be hosting our traditional healthy breakfast potluck so bring something to share! But, seriously, keep those cinnamon rolls and sugar-laden foods at home (or better yet, just leave them at the grocery store).

This year our Memorial Day fundraising efforts are supporting Allegiance Ranch and Equine Rescue based out of Erie, Colorado. All of the proceeds from our Memorial Day shirt will go to this great organization and we thank you for also considering a donation.

We will be closed Monday, May 28.

College Kids Home For Summer?

Do you have a college student returning home for the summer? Let’s get them training at Roots and in a good routine while they are home!

If interested, send us an email and let us know if they have previous CrossFit experience or if they’re brand new to CrossFit! We’ll send you the details on how they can start training!
