Chad1000x is Coming November 11th

Each year on Veterans’ Day, the CrossFit community comes together for CHAD1000X, a Hero workout honoring Navy SEAL Chad Wilkinson, who died by suicide in 2018.

The workout was created by Chad’s wife, Sara Wilkinson, and is now supported by the Step Up Foundation. This annual event raises awareness and funds for veteran brain and mental health initiatives.

The workout is simple in design but powerful in its application:

1,000 weighted step-ups for time to a 20-inch box, wearing a 45-lb ruck.

Roots will do this workout in all group classes on Tuesday, November 11th. As always, we will offer scaling and partner options.

We understand that you may be limited by an hour; however, we will not stop you from finishing. If you have to stay longer to get it done, we highly encourage you to do so. And we’ll be there to cheer you on.

Register and Support

There are many ways you can support the effort and the goal of increasing suicide awareness:

  1. Come do the workout at Roots. Talk to friends. Smile. Give some high fives. CrossFit Roots will donate $5 to The Step Up Foundations for EACH Roots member who completes the workout in classes on November 11th.
  2. Register for the event, get a t-shirt, and support a great cause. Proceeds of the CHAD1000X fundraiser will provide financial support to other nonprofits dedicated to Veteran Brain & Mental Health Initiatives through The Step Up Foundation.
