Read on to get to know Lindsay a little more.

How many years have you been CrossFitting?

I started CrossFit about eight-ish years ago in high school.  My dad forced me to join a local CrossFit gym as a means of doing something to cross-train during my off-season for ice hockey and rugby. Now we joke about how invested I am in the CrossFit world, and it all began with me begrudgingly agreeing to try it to appease my dad.

Where were you born and raised?

I was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and spent all of my life there until a few weeks ago when I moved out here!

What’s your life story in four sentences?

1. Lindsay MacDonald, born and raised in Boston, MA 1996.
2. Tries every sport in the book; lands on ice hockey and rugby.
3. Love love LOVE books, fitness, coffee, laughing until your stomach hurts.
4. 2021 Moves to Colorado, lives happily ever after.

What was your first CrossFit workout?

All I can remember about my first CrossFit workout was that there were pull-ups involved.  I walked in wicked intimidated and knew there was zero chance of me getting my chin over that bar. and I was correct in my assumption.

What is your favorite CrossFit workout?

My favorite CrossFit workout is a toss-up between 17.1 and Glen. Love love LOVE those two!

What is your least favorite CrossFit workout?

Least favorite…. gosh. I did one that involved 25, 50, 75, 100 burpees with running intervals 400/800/1200/1600 meters in between. It was 95 degrees that day, and I’m still not emotionally ok from that workout.

What did you do before coming to Roots?

Before coming to Roots, I was the head coach of CrossFit TILT in Waltham, Massachusetts!

What is your favorite CrossFit story?

I mean… now it has to be Annie Thorisdottir snatching 200 at the games this year. Chef’s kiss.

When did you start coaching CrossFit, and why?

I started coaching when I was in college.  I had been doing CrossFit for a few years, and one of my best friends I trained with suggested I get my L1.  I loved coaching, and I loved the environment, so when I graduated I figured, why would I stop?

Why did you move to Boulder?

I moved out to Colorado for a little change of scenery.  My sister has lived in Colorado for a few years and suggested I move out here because she absolutely loves it.

What do you do for fun outside of CrossFit?

Outside of CrossFit, I’m probably riding my longboard and drinking a LOT of coffee. I also LOVE ice cream (my other job in college was scooping ice cream).  It’s my weakness. I run a poorly followed ice cream review account on Instagram (@theconeisseur) that I highly suggest you check out (I’m not begging, but I am begging).
