Specialty Classes at Roots

Did you know your CrossFit Roots membership includes access to Specialty classes? It does!

In addition to the CrossFit WOD. (workout of the day), we offer Endurance, Strongman, and Olympic Weightlifting, Strength, Gymnastics and more. Anyone with a club membership can reserve a spot in these classes.

Never been to a specialty class? Here’s what you can expect:

Gymnastics– This class is 60-minutes and designed for the athlete who wants to improve their handstands, pull-ups, muscle-ups and more. Class sizes are small so whether you’re a beginner or an experienced gymnast, this class allows for athletes to advance their skills within class and beyond.

Strongman – This class is 60-minutes and focused on moving odd objects. Think sandbag carries, yoke carries, sled drags, sled pushes, etc.

Olympic Weightlifting – This class is 60-minutes and focused on the clean & jerk and the snatch. It’s not always about maxing out, it’s about technique and form to help you learn the positions and build strength when these lifts show up in the workout of the day. This class is held multiple times during the week and the workout is the same for all classes through the week so you would come to one class, not all of them.

Strength – This class is 60-minutes and focused on strength in movements you would see in traditional powerlifting like back squat, deadlift, pressing, etc. The programming runs in cycles, focused on one movement with testing throughout. It is ideal if you can attend each class or do the work in between each class if you’re not able to make it. This class is held multiple times during the week and the workout for each class in one week is the same so you would come to one Strength class per week, not multiple.

Endurance– Are you training for a Hyrox, Spartan, Ultra or a backpacking trip? The endurance class is 60-minutes and focused on longer effort endurance work. Expect a mix of running, rowing, wall balls, burpees, and more.
