Details on the First Thursday Night Throwdown
CrossFit Open WOD 12.1 is here! As many of you know, the Thursday Night Throwdowns begin TONIGHT! Read below for all the details.
Thursday Night Throwdowns will take the place of all regularly scheduled group WOD classes (4, 5, 6pm) for the next five weeks. Thursday Night Throwdowns are from 4:30-6:30pm. Sign-up is still REQUIRED for this class. Sign-up on MBO.
Notes: Athletes can come in and warm-up anytime AFTER 4:15pm and put themselves in a heat. You can show up anytime between 4:15 and 6:30 to do the workout. The last heat will start at 6:20. YOU MUST BE REGISTERED FOR THE OPEN TO PARTICIPATE IN THURSDAY NIGHT THROWDOWNS. NOT REGISTERED? CLICK HERE.
You will do the workout in a heat with other athletes. You will have a judge and a scorecard. The judges will have you sign off on your score. Scorecards will not leave the shop and will be placed in a file folder. Athletes will submit their own scores on the website which the coaches will then check against the scoresheets and validate if it matches.
For the first Open workout, there are no scaling or modifications for the masters divisions (it’s just burpees!).
All athletes must submit their own scores on the CrossFit Open website. We will validate scores by the deadline checking them against the score sheets collected on Thursdays. Again, it is YOUR responsibility to put your score in for validation. We will have a computer at the shop for this purpose.
If athletes are unable to make it to class on a Thursday, they have the option to video record their workout during open shop on Sundays from 10:30-12:30. CrossFit HQ will review the video for range of motion, reps, and loading and validate if appropriate. CrossFit Roots will not validate any scores submitted on Sundays. CrossFit Roots will host Open Shop on all Sundays except for March 4th. We recommend athletes visit affiliates around the Boulder/Denver area on Friday or Saturday if they are interested in doing the workout a second time.
