Welcome to the official Roots Intramural Open Week 1 Score Report and Week 2 Preview, where we bring you all of the highlights from the week and announce the current leader. No, we don’t have a white leader jersey for the leading team, but the bragging rights are ALL THE RAGE right now!
This week, teams earned points in several categories. Recurring points include: attendance points, wearing team colors, top scores, and team average. And let’s not forget about the week 1 challenges!
Now that your quads are recovered from all those wall balls, read on to find out which team is in first place!
Team Challenges = Extra Points!
This week included a pre-Open challenge of most Judges Certificates, Best Team Logo, Best Team Name AND the Week 1 challenge: Cornhole!
C&C Muscle Factory rose to the top in the Judges Course challenge earning them an extra 200 points and the street cred to be extra judgy. Definitely a flex.

When it came to Best Team Name, the Commissioners awarded Blue Steel the challenge points for this one! This team knows there’s a lot more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good at CrossFit… Here’s what they have to say about the power of their name:
Blue Steel is not merely a facial expression pulled by the world’s greatest male supermodel, Derek Zoolander. When Zoolander deploys Blue Steel, something tangible shifts in the air around him. Blue Steel is intensity contained. It relays a subtle tension that reads as vulnerability and dominance simultaneously. It says: I have been hurt, and I am beautiful because of it.
We can say the same about our experience with CrossFit. Yes, it hurts. But it shapes us into the most beautiful, badass versions of ourselves. The power of Blue Steel is in its withholding of the engine – like in an Open WOD, where we must be strategic in how we take it on; withholding, pacing, and then burning it down with our engines at max capacity.
100 points to Blue Steel!

Best Logo Design was it’s own category this year and while the actual team color it is yet to be determined, what’s clear is the Commissioners totally dig the logo for team Mosscular Development! 100 points for team sand/tan/beige/khaki!

As for the Cornhole Tournament, after a lot of bracket debate and a dead hobby horse found in Commissioner Josh Haimes’ bed… Mosscular Development secured an additional 200 points for their team. Between Austin’s toe socks and Connor’s trash talking, they were able to back up their tactics and bring home the victory!
