Hey Roots Crew, we need your help! We’re compiling a new athlete FAQ for the website and want to know what you think needs to be included. What questions did you have when you first joined? What would have helped you assimilate into the group classes more easily? And what questions do you still have!!
Examples include, but certainly are not limited to: where do I get knee sleeves for Oly, what kind of shoes should I wear for workouts, where do I find the workout of the day on your website, and how much do BooBars cost?
i was clueless re: main crossfit site/connection to CFR – so perhaps a bit of a background would be helpful. also, transitioning from a tight-knit foundations cohort to open classes was a bit intimidating – acknowledging that to newbies may help ease the mind

I second what Lynne said here re. the main site and also the transition into classes, and also what others said in the last post about the welcoming nature of the shop and that it is the place for a wide range of abilities.

FAQ’s. What are wrist wraps, why would I need Oly shoes, what is a callous shaver, what can I do when my hands tear, how should I tape my hands without using a whole roll. What is the tape fund, why do I have to clean up my own tape ? What do I do if I bleed / snot / ooze on bar, dumbell or leave a puddle of sweat on the floor ? When do I go down a band for pull ups ? Do I go fast and light on a WOD or slow and heavy on a WOD ? Do the numbers on a weight face in or out on a barbell ? Which way do the clips go on a barbell ? How can I stop my shins bleeding on a deadlift ? Where does Zac get those socks ?
