Meet a Root – Olivia
1. Months CrossFitting? square root of 144.. you do the math..
2. Favorite WOD or lift (pick one)? Helen
3. Least favorite WOD or lift (pick one)? Bench press as I believe it aligns more with the male sense of athletic gratification.
4. What do you do for work? (career) I work for the USGS in an aqueous geochemistry research lab.
5. What is your favorite thing about CrossFit? I love that CrossFit constantly fulfills a sense of personal accomplishment and forces you hold yourself to an ever higher standard. Its like moving to the next level on Super Mario.. always generally completing the same task but way harder. Oh and.. learning how to exploit every single edible part of the coconut plant…Can’t touch this Alton Brown!
6. What is your least favorite thing about CrossFit? Feeling like I got hit by a train.. (we all secretly like it though)..
7. Do you have any goals in CrossFit? Anything specific you want to accomplish? (muscle up, pull-up, handstand push up, body-weight squat) Handstand push ups and bodyweight C&J
8. When you’re not CrossFitting, what activities keep you busy? Things that end in -ing (ex. mountain biking, snowboarding, cooking, rockhounding, flying) ..Exceptions being of course carb-loading and ironing
9. Where were you born/raised? Born: Boulder,CO, raised: Lexington,KY
10. Married, kids, family? I’m practically a kid!
11. How do you make CrossFit a part of your weekly schedule? I wear tear-aways so I can rip into my workout gear whenever possible..
12. Anything you’d like to add? ROOTS ROCKS! say that 5 rounds for time!
That is some funny shit, Olivia!!! You rule!
Why do you fly with a watermelon?
So funny! This made my stomach hurt like kte’s
You’ve set a new standard for hilarious responses in the Meet a Root column… Strong work!!
Great stuff. So, if you are holding the watermelon, who has the controls? 🙂
For those of you who were not there to witness it….Olivia ROWED 26,092 meters …. TODAY. in 2:20:58. Yes…that’s 16.2 MILES in 2 hours and 20 minutes. And in all that time sitting next to her…. I forgot to ask… Why is it that you bring a watermelon up in the air to fly with you??? Is that some new Paleo thing….????
And Secondly to Olivia — thanks for all the laughs (and you know every one of them!) and for seeing me thru till the end of the 100K challenge. YOUR THE BEST> I will miss you dearly.
And J-RO — you rock girl !!! Nice Job today. Love lifting with you!!!!
Olivia, this is probably the most entertaining “meet a root” post yet. Keep it up, and soon you’ll have your own show on public-access television a la Wayne’s World 😉
Oh, wait, you’re probably too young for that reference…
Oh you guys are SOO SWEET – ur makin me blush! I am going to miss roots more than everything!! I’ve had the best year here and let me just say ..coolest people I have met in 6 years living here by far.. Thanks for an awesome experience! 🙂 and p.s. Yall better check on me every now and then and make sure I havnt fallen off the wagon.. Ya just never know..hahahahaha
Oh yeah and I meant to mention that the watermelon had a lot of “potential energy” a couple thousand feet above the ground.. And as we know from physics..this soon turns into kinetic energy… Maybe a cow or horse enjoyed a rare treat of sweet, red goodness splattered across the ground.. Soon coming to a grocery store near you..fructose fed cows!
I knew it was a paleo thing!
Gonna miss having you around, Odog!
