Dear Roots Crew,

The month of May and our annual Murph event mark the halfway point of the year. Maybe you’re on a tear, collecting PRs, staying consistent, and putting in the work. Or maybe you’ve been on a slide and need to figure out how to get some things in order to further your health and fitness.

Wherever you’re at, the coaching staff is rooting for you – whether it be for you to find consistency in your attendance, get your first pull-up, qualify for quarterfinals next year, or change your blood markers for the better. And we’re here to help. So reach out, and let’s make a plan.

Congrats to our Semifinals Athletes!

Congratulations to the ELEVEN Roots athletes who qualified for the 2026 CrossFit Semifinals! These athletes have the opportunity to compete to earn a spot at the CrossFit Games this summer! The Online Semifinals will take place May 7-11, with workouts taking place at Roots.

!! CALLING ALL CROSSFIT LEVEL 1 CERTIFICATE HOLDERS !!

Do you hold a current CrossFit Level 1 Certificate? We are looking for a handful of Roots athletes to help judge during the Semifinals competition week.

To judge an athlete in the semifinals, judges must:
1. Hold a current CrossFit Level 1 (CF-L1) trainer credential (or higher)
2. Hold a current Advanced Judges Course certificate

The CrossFit Teens Spring Session is coming to a close on May 15th, and we’re gearing up for an exciting summer of training with our teen athletes! See below for summer program updates!

Last Chance: Burgener Weightlifting Course

The Burgener Weightlifting Course is coming to Roots on May 16 & 17! This is your last chance to sign up to spend the weekend learning and improving your snatch and clean & jerk!

This course is designed for athletes and coaches of all levels!


Not a Challenge Health Challenge is BACK!

Last year, we hosted our first Not a Challenge Health Challenge, and over 50 Roots athletes agreed it was one of their favorites, so we are bringing it back with a SUMMER EDITION to help you build and maintain healthy habits this summer without missing out on all the fun that summer travel, get-togethers, and long lazy days will bring!

We wanted to know: could choosing a few daily habits and sticking with them for the long haul really drive long term, sustainable, results?

The answer was YES! Last year, participants gained an average of 3# of muscle and lost 1.5-3% body fat with this challenge over 12 weeks.

What’s this all about?

June 1 – August 1. Nine weeks. Four phases.

This is for you if:

  • You’re traveling this summer and want to maintain a few healthy habits so you don’t have to “start all over” in the fall
  • You’re currently participating in Lazy Macros and want to continue to build healthy habits on top of this. Full steam ahead!
  • You’ve never done a nutrition challenge and are curious about how small changes can make big impacts on your overall health and performance.
  • You want to live a healthy lifestyle without weighing and measuring your food this summer.
  • You’re new to CrossFit and want to jump start your results!

Learn More In Person – Monday, May 11 9:30-10:15am or Tuesday, May 12 7:00-7:45pm

Stay on track this summer and keep the habits into the fall!

Cost: $200 (includes phased releases of the habits, tracking tools, and two inBody scans)


Summer Travel Workout Track in SugarWOD!

Summertime brings warm weather, gatherings with friends, and summer travel. We know these can impact your fitness, attendance, and your foundation, so we’re here to help!

Introducing: Summer Travel WODs!

For summer 2065, we’re thrilled to bring back a Travel Workout track in SugarWOD – five travel workouts each week, specifically designed to keep you consistent, no matter where your adventures take you. 

These Workouts Will:

  • Require minimal equipment (think hotel gym basics or your parents’ basement gear) or no equipment at all
  • Take just 40 minutes or less from warm-up to finish – making it easier to fit fitness into your vacation schedule
  • Be available exclusively to active members through SugarWOD from June 1st through August 31st

Memorial Day Murph & Memorial Day Schedule


Each year, CrossFit affiliates around the world do the Hero workout Murph in memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, who was killed in Afghanistan in June of 2005. CrossFit has had a long relationship with the military and has honored service members who have made the ultimate sacrifice through Hero workouts.

On Sunday, May 26 we will hold our annual Murph event.

This year, and in each ongoing year, we will offer an additional Hero workout option. This year’s Hero’s workout addition will be Severin.

Doors open at 7:15am for the National Anthem and kickoff. Heats will go at 8:00, 8:25, and 8:50am so come early to warm-up! Sign up in Zen Planner to reserve your spot.

We will have various beginner and scaled options for athletes. As always, just show up!

We’ll also be hosting our traditional healthy/real food breakfast potluck, so bring something to share! But, seriously, keep those cinnamon rolls and sugar-laden foods at home (or better yet, just leave them at the grocery store).

We will be closed on Monday, May 26.


College Kids Home For Summer?

Do you have a college student returning home for the summer? Let’s get them training at Roots and in a good routine while they are home!

If interested, send us an email and let us know if they have previous CrossFit experience or if they’re brand new to CrossFit! We’ll send you the details on how they can start training!

The 2025 Great Attendance Challenge

The 2026 Great Attendance Challenge is off and running! Attend 225 classes in 2025 and be entered to win a FREE YEAR of membership at CrossFit Roots! Learn more about the challenge HERE.
