Many of you have been greeted by James at the front desk over the past four months. James recently finished up his Freshmen year at CU and will be staying and working in Boulder at Roots for the summer.
In addition to working at Roots, James is volunteering at the CU Chapter of Camp Kesem in Deckers, Colorado for a week this summer.
What is Camp Kesem?
Kesem is a nationwide community, driven by passionate college student leaders, that supports children through and
beyond their parent’s cancer. A program of Kesem, Camp Kesem operates free summer camps for children who have been touched by a parent’s cancer. Founded at Stanford University in 2000, Camp Kesem has since expanded to over 80 chapters in 38 states across the country. Source.
Workout Fundraiser
We are excited to announce that we will hold a Camp Kesem fundraiser workout at Roots on Saturday, June 17th. We’ll have a special partner workout planned. Roots will match all donations up to $200. Come on in, do a fun workout, donate a dollar or two if you’d like, and support a great cause at CU.
What’s the workout?
In teams of two, complete three rounds of the following:
With a 5 minute running clock, run 400m as a team, then perform max Handstand Pushups
then,
With a 5 min running clock run 400m as a team, perform max pullups
The run is performed as a team, only one person working at a time on the handstand push-ups and pull-ups. Complete the workout on a continuously running 30-minute clock.
