I’m not sure what my actual first CrossFit workout was but I remember doing Michael my first week and thinking I was going to die and I was hooked 🙂

From my logbook (Dec 26 2006):
    Push Press: 20
    Row PU: 10
    Push Jerk: 20
    Row PU: 10
    Front Squat: 20
    Row PU: 10
    Thruster: 20
    Row PU: 10
    Lunging Thruster: Distance
Not sure what “Distance” was. Probably 20m. And I think I used 20# dumbbells.

First I have (3/28/2013, after foundations in that march):
    “Barraza”
Complete as many rounds as possible in 18 minutes of:
    Run 200 meters
    275 pound Deadlift, 9 reps
    6 Burpee bar muscle-ups
    scale: 95# deadlift, box-jump pullups
I remember that Ryan was the coach, because he was very excited about the name. He kept saying it in exotic fashion, rolling the r’s as much as he could.

That video is fun, I like hearing about already fit athletes coming to CF from other disciplines and having their asses handed to them, and being hooked. For me I was looking to finally get back in shape and do something productive with myself, having recently quit drinking, and 20 years off the couch basically. First workout was a foundations class baseline kind of thing, some push-ups, sit-ups, lunges and running. Finished dead last, and my arms were jello for a few hours and then they were sore for three days. Kept coming back. First named wod I recall was Helen, and I recently did that one with no bands and I was grinning from ear to ear. Been at this for a year and a half, and there isn’t one CF workout I’ve done more than three times. I look *forward* to some of these, for chrissake. I love this thing.

One of my first workouts I nailed myself in the nose during a thruster. Will never forget that. Had to stop and ice my nose!

My first WOD was a private intro class at Crossfit Stapleton – squats, ab-mat sit-ups, and (heavily banded) pull-ups. I think it was like 20 of each or maybe some kind of descending ladder. I had not eaten much during the day, and I literally thought I was going to die after this workout – ending up on my knees in the parking lot, vomiting. The coach was mortified, and I had to keep insisting I wasn’t upset with him.
The part I’ll never forget is the moment he offered me a vomit bucket. I thought, holy shit, people must vomit post-workout all the time. And somehow from this experience I knew this Crossfit thing was for me.
