Varying Your Equipment

CrossFit is a constantly varied program.  To start, we can vary the movements and time domains for workouts to come up with an infinite number of workout possibilities.  Another way we can bring variance into our programming is through the type of equipment used.  We can use dumbbells instead of barbells for movements like a thrusters or use sandbags for cleans.  We can Olympic lift in sneakers instead of an Oly shoe.  Or we can do pull-ups on rings instead of a pull-up bar.

In what ways would varying your equipment improve your fitness?  Post to comments.

I think mixing up equipment is essential for really tying CrossFit back to the real world. The balance of a barbell is great, but unfortunately, you won’t always have that luxury. Sandbag turkish get-ups are a favorite of mine!
