Congratulations to the late November Foundations Course crew who graduated last week despite snow, ice, and torturous alley conditions.


We got a little side tracked by the holidays but now back to the article!
Next on the list – PASTA.
We first dissected #1. Bread, which we expanded to all grains.  Pasta would also fall under the grains category so we’ll expand on why you should eliminate them from your dietary repertoire.  Last Monday we discussed the havoc wreaked on your body from grain (which breaks down into sugar) consumption, the high fiber myth, and the evolutionary history of humans and grains.  Onward!

Grains cause an inflammatory response. Refined foods such as flour and sugar trigger inflammation within the body that starts in the digestive tract.  Arthritis, allergies, asthma, cardiovascular disease, bone loss, emotional imbalance, and cancer are all linked to what is known as silent inflammation.

Grains attack your gut. Silent inflammation begins in your gut.  If your gut isn’t in kick butt shape, it can’t absorb the nutrients from the foods you eat.  If your gut is constantly on the defensive, your immune system must work overtime and silent inflammation results.  Google “leaky gut syndrome” for more information.
