Why I’m Doing the CrossFit Open, Part 5 – Parry

Read below for our fifth installment of the 2014 series – Why I’m Doing the CrossFit Open.

Below, Parry dishes why he’s doing the CrossFit Open for his THIRD consecutive year.

#1 – Fun

The 3-2-1 GO I’ve grown accustom to hearing doing my time at Roots becomes just a bit  more exciting during the open and the scene at Roots is always a blast.

#2 – Challenge

Who does seven minutes of burpees or 150 wall balls as just part of a WOD? You do, that’s who! Who knows, you may even hit a PR or accomplish something you didn’t know you could do. I’ve seen people hit their first chest to bar pull-up during the Open and I got my first snatch @ 135 pounds during an Open WOD two years ago. My score for that WOD was only 1 rep better than I expected, but it felt like I had accomplished something much bigger.

#3 – Camaraderie

I always enjoy catching up with the friends I’ve made at Roots that I haven’t worked out with in a while and I like meeting new members. It is also so great to see the Roots coaches throw down and go hard during the Open. How often do you get to see Ryan Landis doing WOD’s or get the chance to cheer for Nicole during a workout? Come and give your friends and coaches at Roots encouragement and have a good time.
