185 pound Deadlift, 10 reps
10 Chest to bar pull-ups
20 Double-unders

Christy, Olivia, and Gator get their board on up at Winter Park.

Have you been skiing this year?  Boarding?  Skate skiing?  Cross country skiing?  If so, how was it?  Did your summer and fall at the shop help those first day legs – or not so much?  Post to comments.

Thanks to CFR I fully plan on skating through a brick wall and boarding down the rubble!! Is anyone interested in going to Eldora this weekend? Nordic or alpine?

Oh, and Christy, knees out a bit more, back in your heels more and… give me another inch… Yep… there you go.

OK, Chris… thanks for the coaching! Acutally, my feet were sliding on the snow and I didn’t want to ask the nice guy to take another picture. I hate that my knees are caving and I’m not parallel in this picture!

    Great photo!

Without doubt, this has been a much easier start to the season, with less weight and more strength. Eating Paleo while in the mountains has always challenged me.

  5. I’m with Brian, this has been a much easier start, that is not to say though that my legs were not still shot at the end of the day. But yes, Roots has definitely prepared me for this season.

Snowboarding has been awesome; already much better than last season. I feel stronger and have more power on bumps. And jumps and turns are more energetic. But I still could use more leg muscle endurance on long runs…boy do the quads and calves still burn. Maybe I need to do more air squat holds and held calf raises. I went three days in a row this past weekend, and while my legs were super tired by day 3, they weren’t nearly as sore as they used to get after that kind of beating.
