Eight weeks ago, 68 athletes signed up for the 2020 Fall Nutrition Effort. Through Halloween, Thanksgiving, and the holiday season, two athletes focused hard on their nutrition and rose to the top of the leaderboard.
PHASE 1
The first four weeks began with the 800 Gram Challenge (#800gChallenge®). Athletes were asked to eat 800g of fruits and vegetables a day. With 8 possible points to earn each day, 4 points were given for eating 800g+ a day, 1 point for attending a workout at Roots, 2 points for eating 6+ items, and 1 bonus point that changed weekly.

PHASE 2
Now that athletes had quantity under their belt, the last four weeks tackled the quality of their food. This phase addressed the elimination of processed and inflammatory foods and taught athletes how to eat protein to fuel lean body mass. With 14 possible points to earn each day, 4 points were given for eating 800g+ of fruits and vegetables, 2 for attending workout at Roots, 4 for meeting daily protein requirements, and 4 for consuming real, unprocessed foods.
