Welcome EvaClaire!

It is with great pleasure that we introduce to you our second guest coach for the month of October – EvaClaire Synkowski! EvaClaire has been a staple in the CrossFit community for many years and has an extensive background in all things seminars and coaching. You’ll see her on the shop floor beginning Thursday!

How many years have you been CrossFitting?
Since January 2006.

Where were you born and raised?
Baltimore, MD.

What’s your life story in four sentences?
Daughter to three (mom, stepfather, father), sister to one, aunt to two. Grew up in Maryland and attended UM-College Park for BS and MS. Boston for nine years sent me south and west (but I miss that crew!). Environmental consultant for expert witness litigation work turned full time CrossFitter, coach, employee.

Married, family, kids?
Nope

What was your first CrossFit workout?
Grace. In a yoga studio where you couldn’t drop the bars. That’s CrossFit circa 2006.

What is your favorite CrossFit workout?
Tie between Helen and DT. I’ve actually circled back to this question twice trying to make a decision. So much to love about them.

What is your least favorite CrossFit workout?
Barbara. Total disaster.

What did you do for your career before coming on at Roots?
Still do – full time employee for Training Department at CrossFit. Work seminars, and anything related to keeping the seminars running.

What is your favorite CrossFit story?
I am obsessed with Constance and the “Keep Hope Alive” story out of CF South Brooklyn. Google it. It’s worth it.

When did you start coaching? What sport?
Hmmm. Personal training in grad school, I think. Then CF in 2006.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done to help an athlete perform or move better?
I don’t know it’s that crazy, but I get a little zealous about natural health remedies… and any athlete I work with usually ends up on a strict turmeric regimen. Everything turns orange. Be warned.

What do you do for fun outside of CrossFit?
Anything active. New activity is Salsa and Bachata dancing. So fun!
