Food as a Drug

Food has a tremendous ability to make us feel good and bad both physically and mentally.  Some of you spent the past month in a super-clean state.  Some of you didn’t participate in the challenge but made better choices on a day in day out basis.  Thanksgiving has come and gone and now it’s time to get back in the saddle.

Did you overindulged, stuff yourself, eat large quantities of sugar or tons of grains?  If so, how did you feel afterward?  Post to comments.

I wayyy overindulged, like 6k calories a day style, and 60-70% of those calories were from desserts and alcohol. I felt weak and sluggish any time I tried to exert myself, but fortunately I didn’t need to exert myself often =). I don’t regret a thing, but I do look forward to getting back on my ‘healthy eating and daily crossfit’ routine.

It was CARB-TASTIC!! ….. Coming off the challenge, all the sugars & carbs did leave me feeling sluggish. I look forward to getting back to the normal diet and laying off the chunky chews.

Here’s something to help everyone get back in the game mentally.

I feel like I’m confessing or something haha. But yep I had gluten free brownies. . Woopsies!

I missed out on the traditional Thanksgiving stuff-fest this year. I had a bowl of mushroom soup at the Tate Cafe (down the dock from the Beatles museum in Liverpool), then a slice of pizza from a place called “American Pizza” on the way back to the train, and topped off the day with some fish and chips (gotta appreciate the full UK experience).

Upon returning to Manchester, I went over to CF Central Manchester to use the WiFi for a bit, but eventually decided to HTFU and do the WOD because only one guy showed up to the last class of the day and I didn’t want him to have to work out by himself. Fun day!
