Stop Checking Email So Often
We’re all busy people and need to correspond with clients and coworkers in a timely manner. But can over checking email be stressing us out more than it needs to? Kostadin Kushlev and Elizabeth W. Dunn detail in this NY Times OpEd an experiment they conducted that shows that limiting email checking to a handful of times a day resulted in a significant levels of stress reduction. How many times a day do you check email? Is something like this even feasible in your position? Are you ready to give it a shot? Post to comments.
I’m totally guilty of this. It’s as if I simply see my phone and then before I know it my phone is in my hand and I’m checking if I have new emails.
I like the experiment. I’m giving it one week…
I was just talking about this yesterday! I updated the software on my phone and now all new emails just pop up on my screen as they come in. Now, if something comes up and I’m not in a position to do anything about it, I just get to stress out about it until I am… super productive. I changed my settings last night.
