Registration for the CrossFit Open is January 12th – in two days! If you just started CrossFit within the last year then you may be asking yourself, “What’s The Open?” If you’ve been a member of Roots for some time now, you know that the CrossFit Open is one of the most special five weeks at the shop. It’s a time when athletes come together to workout, refocus on your fitness goals, cheer each other on, test their limits, and create new goals for the following year. No matter your fitness level, there is a lot to be gained from participating in The Open. Beginning January 24th we are pleased to offer a 6-week course that meets two times per week for one hour, to address the foundation of movement. The course will focus on movements seen in CrossFit, such as handstands and muscle-ups, as well as movements that support the development of stronger movement patterns and gymnastics accomplishments, such as the lever and planche. Believe it or not, CrossFit Roots has posted everyday for 2,670 days. That’s a lot of posting (divide that number by 365 and it comes out to almost 7.5 years!). In the beginning we did this to inform our athletes of the workout of the day, communicate events and information, and chat and discuss about relevant topics in the CrossFit, health, and nutrition worlds. But that was so 2009, and a lot has changed in the internet, blog, and social media worlds. Now, you can get information in many different ways – through apps, social media, newsfeeds, and more.
